Question: Can you cookies without shortening, baking powder or baking soda?So, I am a student who tries to bake cookies is had for a friend, bad times in the past few days. I've got eggs, oatmeal, chocolate, flour, white sugar, salt, milk, oil and margarine, but no shortening or baking powder / soda, which seems to many recipes of crucial importance. Can you cookies without these ingredients?

Books Cookbooks

Question: What should I get cookbooks for baking pastries /?I want a cookbook based on pastries and baking. What are good books?
Answer: It depends on how advanced you want to go. If you prepare only simple Desset, including basic cakes, pies, Brownies, etc., should be something like a Good Housekeeping book this good, but if you are more advanced, are two excellent books "The Professional Pastry Chef "by Bo Freiburg or" Professional Baking "by Wayne Gisslen. These books are very detailed account of the lessons and even recipes and techniques.
