Dutch Oven
Why does Dutch Oven lids have little bumps all over the inside?
I just received a Calphalon Dutch Oven, and noticed that the inside cover of the bumps is covered with dozens of how the nipple rings. I have an idea what they're for, but I'm wondering if anyone knows is safe. If not, give it your best guess with some good reasons.
The ridge of bumps on the inside of a Dutch oven are to ensure that the steam drops fall evenly over the entire top of casserole / cake / what ever you are cooking. A usual curved Cover, the water drops collect and drop of two places ... either from the summit of the dome (which means it can be a puddle on or in the middle of your cake / pot) or runs on the sides, which means you can end up with the cake / inertia not cook dinner on the edges. The comb inequalities make sure that the steam drops Drops in the evening over the entire top, and can not collect in only one or two places in / on the food, as Dutch ovens are not open element and be stirred during cooking.
