How to Make Easy Mincemeat

Mincemeat is often used in ingredients in England and Europe
but not so much in the US. Some mincemeat does not contain meat
at all. There are difficult mincemeat recipes and there are
easy mincemeat recipes. Mincemeat is used in mince pie as
delicacies for Christmas time along with Christmas pudding in
some countries such as in the United Kingdom.
Ingredients to make mincemeat the easy
way
To make mincemeat the easy way you will
need:
- 3/4 cup suet
- 1 lemon
- 3/4 cup mixed peel
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 cup sultanas
- 2 cups currants
- 1 tsp of allspice
- 2 small cooking apples
- 2 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 cup chopped almonds
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 cup + 2T brown sugar

How to make mincemeat?
Place the
currants, raisins and sultanas in a strainer.
Wash them under the cold tap.
Cut the
apples into halves, then quarters and then
smaller segments.
Wash the
lemon and dry with a tea towel. With a fine
grater, gently grate off the outer rind into a
small bowl.

Shake the strainer well, then pour them onto
a clean tea towel and pat them dry.
Cut the peel from each segment and slice out
the core from the centers.
Cut the lemon in half and squeeze out all
the juice. Add the juice and rind to the large bowl.
Pour the into a large bowl. Add sugar,
spices, almonds, mixed peel and suet.
Put a few segments at a time onto a chopping
board and chop them up finely. Add the apple to the dried
fruit.
Mix it up well using a wooden spoon. Leave
the mixture covered for 24 hours.
